Dr. Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, Prof. of economics, Dhaka University has been appointed as the acting Managing Director (M D) of the SME Foundation(SMEF) in addition to continue as a director of the Board of Directors. The decision was taken in a board meeting with Chairperson Mr. Ayub Quadri in the chair. Dr. Momtaz Uddin has been a member of the SME Foundation board since it’s inception .
Dr. Momtaz Uddin Ahmed is an Economist of international repute with over thirty seven years of successful career in teaching and research in Development Economics, Industrial Economics, Labour Economics, Rural development and East Asian Development. In addition to teaching Economics at graduate and post-graduate levels at Dhaka University and some of the leading Private Universities (North South University), of Bangladesh and guiding doctoral research, Professor Ahmed has vast experience as a reputed professional economist at national and international levels. Professor Ahmed has formerly been a Member of the Bangladesh Planning Commission and Director of Research, CIRDAP, an inter-governmental organization headquartered in Dhaka. Small enterprise development is a subject on which Professor Ahmed is specialized and has published articles on its different aspects in scholarly journals in Bangladesh and abroad.
